Collective Utopic Map– 2012
For the Fureur de lirefestival on the theme of utopia, I led a participative workshop with John Jordan and Isabelle Fremeaux entitled The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination. The week-long workshop brought together a team of eight artists, activists, urban planners and geographers, along with members of the public. Every day, from 10am to 6pm, we worked together to come up with a utopic representation of Geneva: sensorial, vivid, creative, alternative, collaborative, resistant, wild…? We moved forward slowly but surely, through consensus-based consultations, exploring criteria and characteristics that seemed, to us, to form the basis for utopia. Our aim was to engage in an ethical reflection. From 6pm to 8pm, we invited the public to weigh in on our proposals and wrestle with the same questions.
